Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on the President’s announcement of stricter emissions targets that will increase costs and reduce jobs:
“The President appears to be undeterred by the American people’s clear repudiation of his policies of more regulations and higher energy costs. He refuses to acknowledge that it is technological advances from entrepreneurs and innovators, not government mandates, that have made the American energy sector more efficient and one of the lone bright spots in an otherwise beleaguered economic recovery. It is discouraging that while millions of families are facing stagnant wages, the President continues to lead the American people down a road that will increase the cost of living and further reduce the number of American jobs. The House will continue to fight this Administration’s cavalier approach of jamming through harmful regulations without regard to economic consequences. Next week, the House will vote on the Secret Science Reform Act that makes the science behind new rules and regulations transparent and reproducible.”
