At the retirement barbecue for Undersheriff Steve Harriett, I commended him and Seminole County Sheriff Don Eslinger on their exemplary leadership and commitment to law enforcement. Both Sheriff Eslinger and his Deputy, Steve Harriett, successfully kept our community safe and secure under their tenure with their untiring work and outstanding efforts.

At the annual 7th Congressional District Military Academy selection board meeting, the Lyman High School Army JROTC began the event with the Honor Guard Posting the Colors.

Former Navy Commander Rich O'Sullivan, a military academy liaison, was our featured speaker as we kicked off our 2016 academy appointments program.

At the monthly lunch meeting of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors - Central Florida, I updated the group on my work, the progress of the I-4 Beyond the Ultimate project, airport expansion, SunRail and veterans projects.

Recently, I had the privilege of stopping by the Women on a Mission to Earn Commission (WOAMTEC) monthly meeting. I had the opportunity to update them on my work in our community and in Washington, and this fun and energetic group had a lot of ideas to share with me on how we can improve our region. Their warm welcome and thoughtful ideas were appreciated, and I look forward to joining them again soon!

Yesterday, I had a great time celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Goldsboro Elementary Magnet School in Sanford! Much has changed since the "Little Red House" opened in 1916. What hasn't changed is the school's dedication to its students.

Many alumni returned for the momentous occasion and to share their memories. The current students have a bright future, and I have no doubt, they will leave an indelible mark on our community and country.
