Rep. Salmon’s Resolution in Support of U.S.-RoK-Japan Relationship Passes House

Washington, D.C. — Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) today released this statement following the House passage of his resolution to commend cooperation between the United States, South Korea, and Japan, and promote stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

“North Korea has become increasingly unhinged in recent months, openly showcasing their desire to interrupt peaceful commerce between nations.  Together with our allies, Japan and South Korea, the United States has fruitfully worked to ensure stability in the region.  I’m proud my resolution was adopted today to recognize the contributions of our partners in ensuring freedom and security through our lasting partnerships.”

Background: This resolution formally recognizes the importance of the relationship between the United States, the Republic of Korea, and Japan, and commends all nations for their resolve in dealing with the menace of the North Korean regime, and supports the prompt deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to deter North Korea’s threats.

Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific. He is also a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
