Project Requests
In no priority order, the following table lists the projects submitted by the Resident Commissioner, Hon. Pedro R. Pierluisi, to be included as part of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2010.

Río Guayanilla | Guayanilla, P.R. | Flood Damage Reduction | The Guayanilla River flood control project consists of three major phases, which include the construction of channels and floodwalls that will protect the municipality of Guayanilla in the event of a flooding event. The second and third phases of this project will consist of the relocation of the river basin, construction of channels, levees and floodwalls along the river basin. |
Río Culebrinas | Aguada/Aguadilla, P.R. | Flood Damage Reduction | To increase the authorized amount established for this project under Section 205 Continuing Authorities Program (CAP) to $12 million. |
Beatriz Dam | Caguas, P.R. | Water Supply | The project will expand water availability in the Municipality of Caguas, Puerto Rico, which has a population of more than 140,502 people. The project consists on the construction of a new Earth Dam with a capacity of 7.6 million cubic meters. |
Casey Dam | Añasco, P.R. | Water Supply/ Flood Damage Reduction | The project will benefit the Municipalities of Añasco, Mayaguez, Hormigueros, Cabo Rojo, San Germán, Lajas and Sabana Grande, in Puerto Rico, which have a combined population of more than 279,850 people. The project consists on the construction of a dam with a capacity to provide 55 million gallons of water per day. |
Canal Stella | Rincón, P.R. | Flood Damage Reduction | Reconstruction of approximately 865 meters (2,837 ft) of drainage channel. Removal of corroded and collapsed gabion retaining wall and installation of new soldier piles and precast walls. |
Sol del Caribe | Guayama, P.R. | Shoreline Protection and Recreation | Consists of the development of a public beach which is intended to be used as the principal attraction of tourism and recreation. |
