The First District of Kansas has a proud rural and agrarian tradition. In order to preserve and sustain this way of life, it is important that we make certain that government control and over-regulation is not strangling our rural, agricultural communities.
By promoting small-town values we are promoting strong families. The values of hard work and dedication are embodied in rural America, especially the commitment to personal responsibility, community values, and the values of hard work.

Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) issued the following statement in response to an announcement by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) the Lesser Prairie Chicken (LPC) has been officially removed from the federal list of endangered and threatened wildlife:
“This announcement formalizes our big victory earlier this year when USFWS announced their plans to remove the LPC from the endangered species list.
On Tuesday, The Separation of Powers Restoration Act, a bill cosponsored by Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01), passed the House. The Separation of Powers Restoration Act (SOPRA) seeks to restore the balance of power among the three branches as the Constitution dictates.
In 1984, the Supreme Court established the Chevron Deference, which gives agencies in the executive branch authority to interpret “ambiguous” laws.

The regulation was a real threat to the rural Kansas economy, as it restricted the ability of farmers and ranchers, oil and gas producers, and many other entrepreneurs to earn a living and operate a business to support their families.
WASHINGTON – This morning Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) was pleased to learn from Salina Airport Authority’s Executive Director Tim Rogers that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has agreed to resume services in Salina.
WASHINGTON – Today Congressman Tim Huelskamp voted for the Treating Small Airports with Fairness Act (H.R.4549) to ensure the Salina Regional Airport gets the TSA security screening it needs. The bill passed unanimously in the House.
