Congressman Tim Huelskamp

Representing the 1st District of Kansas

National Security

The most fundamental and constitutionally-mandated responsibility of our federal government.

At Home:

Since the tragic events of September 11, 2001, there has been an increased focus on guarding Americans inside our borders. Under the Obama Administration and their National Security Agency (NSA), the federal government is clearly violating our personal liberties in the name of security.  They must be held accountable for these violations of our rights.  While true security is founded in individual liberty and self-government, I believe that federal, state, and local law enforcement officers and agencies must have access to the tools and resources they need to defend our nation.

Abroad:

Our men and women serving in combat deserve to have the resources they need in order to complete missions abroad.  Upon their return, it is our obligation to ensure that they have the resources they need in order to return to civilian life, including access to educational and health services.

On the Border:

A key component of our national security is protecting our borders, and we must secure it before we move forward with any other aspect of immigration reform. It is the responsibility of the federal government to make sure we know who is coming in to the country and to have an effective system to track and find those who illegally overstay their visas.

Today Congressman Huelskamp was pleased to welcome Chairwoman Hartzler to Fort Riley and highlight why Fort Riley is a critical, unique, and strategic asset to the Army.

“I was once again impressed by Fort Riley. For the needs of the 21st century defense of America, there’s nothing like Fort Riley’s unique, mission-critical capabilities. In an increasingly turbulent world, it was an honor to join Chairwoman Hartzler on her visit to highlight the training and other capacities at Ft. Riley that prepare our brave men and women in uniform to take on ISIS and other enemies."
