CONGRESSMAN RUBÉN HINOJOSA ANNOUNCES OVER $199,000 USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT TO UTRGV

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded an over $199,000 Rural Cooperative Development grant to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

 

The Rural Development funds will be used to create new cooperatives or business enterprises, provide assistance to several existing cooperatives and cooperative groups, and further promote the benefits of cooperatives through advocacy, training, and technical assistance.

 

“I am pleased that UTRGV has been awarded over $199,000 through the USDA Rural Development Grant program. These funds will help provide much needed assistance to Rio Grande Valley employers and cooperative enterprises. They can use these funds to develop their business plans and strategies in order to grow their ventures and in turn generate continued economic development and job growth across our region.”
