The Navajo Nation Council quarterly session got underway earlier this week. One of the first things President Russell Begaye talked about was the need for housing and health care services for the Nation’s veterans.

First District Congresswomen Ann Kirkpatrick was in Window Rock, too, and she agreed completely with president Begaye’s ideas for veterans.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick voted for the FY 2016 omnibus appropriations bill, H.R. 2029, which passed the House of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support, 316-113. This measure funds the government for FY 2016.

The Congress moves slowly – too often very slowly – but it moves. Bipartisan members of Congress came to Window Rock in January to tour and talk about the Office of Navajo Hopi Indian Relocation.

Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick led a delegation that included other members of the House of Representatives and members of the House Appropriations Committee and subcommittee on the interior and environment; they met with Navajo and Hopi leaders. Also in attendance was Jodi Gillette, Senior Policy Advisor for Native American Affairs for the White House Domestic Policy Council.
