Free Tax Preparation Assistance (VITA Sites)

Don’t be a victim to high tax preparation fees!

The VITA Program offers free tax return preparation and filing assistance to families and individuals making less than $54,000 a year. IRS-certified volunteers are located at "VITA" sites throughout Los Angeles and are available to help prepare and file your return free of charge.

Earned Income Tax Credit
The IRS may owe you money. EITC, the Earned Income Tax Credit, is a benefit for working people who have low to moderate income. But remember, to get it, you must claim it when filing your taxes. Millions of hard-working Americans miss out on the EITC because they don’t claim it. Visit www.irs.gov/eitc to check your eligibility for the EITC.

The Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC)

LITC represent low income individuals is disputes in the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), including audits, appeals, collection matters, and federal tax litigation. Services are free or low cost for eligible taxpayers. Each clinic determines whether prospective clients meet income guidelines and other criteria before agreeing to represent them.

Clinics participating in the LITC program provide:

  • Representation for individuals in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), including audits, appeals, collection matters, and federal tax litigation. LITCs can also help taxpayers respond to IRS notices and correct account problems
  • Education about taxpayer rights and responsibilities
  • Advocacy on behalf of low income and ESL taxpayers
