Miller Honors Hundreds of Vietnam Veterans at Commemoration

May 16, 2016
Press Release
Retired Colonel Donald “Digger” O’Dell joined Miller to present hundreds of veterans of the Vietnam War with commemorative pins and certificates

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) issued the following statement after joining Retired Colonel Donald “Digger” O’Dell, POW at the Hanoi Hilton from 1967-1973, and hundreds of Vietnam veterans to present them with commemorative pins and certificates in honor of their service.

“Today, it was my utmost honor to commemorate hundreds of Vietnam veterans, including POW Digger O’Dell, for their selfless service to this nation over half a century ago. More than 500,000 brave American servicemen and women answered the call to defend the ideals of democracy and liberty around the world, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice. While we can never truly repay our veterans for their unwavering devotion to our country, it is our duty to ensure that their commitment lives on in the hearts of generations to come. To all of these brave men and women, and to their families who also sacrificed, thank you. You are real heroes, heroes who understand what service, duty and sacrifice really mean.”
