Budget and Spending
Fixing our nation’s fiscal problems is all about creating jobs and growing the economy. With far too many people out of work, I know we need to create more jobs now and help families here in Northern Michigan. We can do this by getting Washington’s spending under control and unnecessary regulations out of the way so our economy can improve and prosper.
I originally ran for Congress because I was worried about what would happen to our children and grandchildren with Washington’s ridiculous spending and the debt we were leaving them. We must focus on addressing the problem now and reducing Washington’s wasteful spending and belief that bigger government is the solution to all of our challenges.
I support a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution to force Washington politicians to have the government live within its means and also have voted for the No Budget, No Pay Act to ensure the job is getting done. Families in Northern Michigan balance their budgets every day—it’s time Washington does the same. Hard-working families deserve a budget plan that creates jobs, grows the economy and gives our kids a shot at a better future.
