Congresswoman Janice Hahn, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and Local Leaders Urge Gov. Brown to Take Immediate Action to Address Homelessness
Rep. Hahn releases letter signed by 32 Members of Congress to Governor Brown
Long Beach, CA – Today, Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-44) and Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas (District-2) were joined by local elected officials and homeless aid providers to call Governor Brown to designate additional resources to combat the crisis of homelessness in California.
The leaders held a press conference outside of the Winter Weather Shelter in North Long Beach and were joined by Representatives Alan Lowenthal, Loretta Sanchez, and Grace Napolitano, as well as Long Beach City Councilman Rex Richardson, and Shari Weaver, the Regional Coordinator of Service Planning Area 8.
“The homeless crisis has hit Los Angeles County hard, but we are not alone,” said Congresswoman Hahn. “My colleagues in Congress from communities across the state have witnessed a devastating rise in homelessness—proving that homelessness is not a Los Angeles problem, or a San Francisco problem, it is a statewide problem and demands a statewide solution. “I want to commend the 32 congressional lawmakers from California for their leadership and support to secure the resources needed to make a significant dent in the homelessness crisis that is plaguing our state,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.
