Congresswoman Hahn Applauds LA County Board of Supervisors Vote to Raise the Wage

Jul 21, 2015 Issues: Economy and Jobs

Washington, DC-- Today, Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-44) released the following statement in response to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors vote to raise the minimum wage of unincorporated areas of LA County and LA County employees to $15:

“I am proud that Los Angeles, both the City and now the County, has become a national leader in the effort to raise the minimum wage and in turn reduce inequality and lift more than one million Angelenos out of poverty.  The proposal approved today would mean higher paychecks for more than 100,000 workers in LA County who would have more money to pay the rent, support their kids, and even put into savings. In Congress, I am fighting to raise the federal minimum wage which remains at $7.25 an hour, a level far too low.  In America, nobody who works full-time should raise their family in poverty, and in Los Angeles we are making that a reality.”
