Second Amendment Rights

Protecting our Right to Bear Arms.

When I took the oath to honor and defend the U.S. Constitution, I meant the entire Constitution – including the Second Amendment.  I’ve upheld that promise, and I am committed to ensure the federal government doesn’t pass laws to infringe on a citizen's right to keep and bear arms.

I recognize that gun violence is a real problem.  Recent tragedies have been devastating for those who we lost, their families, their communities, and for America as a whole.   However, taking Constitutional rights away from law-abiding citizens is not the answer.  Our Constitution is not the problem – criminals are.

I assure you that I will continue to be a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and will work to ensure that your constitutional rights to protect yourself and your family are not infringed by the government.  As a proud lifetime member of the NRA, this is a personal issue for me.

40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that legalized abortion. Since then, 55 million unborn babies have lost their lives.  It is heartbreaking to consider the unfulfilled promise of these unborn sons and daughters.  I believe the most basic function of government is to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and our laws must honor the sanctity of life.

Beginning the 113th Congress

Last week, as I was being sworn in as a Member of Congress for the 113th session, I was once again thankful for the honor and privilege I have to represent you in the “People’s House.” I understand the frustration that many Americans have with Washington right now and I share that frustration. I will continue to keep my promise to you to always vote for what I believe is in the best interest of West Texas and our country.
