National Security

Promoting a strong national defense.

As we face increasing global uncertainty, a strong national defense must be a top federal priority.  I am committed to the brave men and women in uniform who risk their lives to defend freedom, and will continue to work to make certain that they receive the benefits they have earned through their service.

Texas’ 19th District is the proud home of Dyess Air Force Base, the B-1B Lancer of the 7th Bomb Wing and the C-130 Hercules of the 317th Airlift Coup.  These airmen and women have made invaluable contributions in today’s fight against terrorism, and have sacrificed so much to keep American families safe.  B-1s have been crucial to our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and reports show they’re also intricately involved with the current fight against ISIL.

Our nation’s military and their families selflessly protect our country and our way of life.  Today’s All-Volunteer Force is the most capable fighting force in the world – a force that requires our unwavering support and vigilant advocacy as a reminder that freedom is never free.  Thank you to all who have served, are currently serving, or have a loved one who serves. Your sacrifice and dedication to this country is humbling, and I pray for you and your families every day.
