Family Values

Promoting strong family values for a stronger America.

A strong America relies on strong family values.  I am proud to be a voice for West Texas values in Congress, where I work on legislation that protects unborn children, honors traditional marriage, and promotes American values. Through the Values Action Team (VAT), I work with other conservative Members and organizations to promote these values.

Promoting Life

I believe in the sanctity of life.  We must honor and protect the rights of the unborn from the point of conception.  I introduced the PRO-LIFE ACT to keep abortion providers out of public schools, and I’ll continue to work closely with fellow members of the bipartisan Pro-Life Caucus to ensure that Obamacare doesn’t force taxpayers and health care enrollees to subsidize abortions.

Honoring Traditional Marriage

I believe that marriage in the United States should remain a sacred union between a man and a woman.  Strong marriages raise healthy and well-rounded children, and promote strong communities. This is why I have cosponsored a Constitutional amendment to define marriage as a union of a man and a woman.

Congressional Prayer Caucus

I am a proud member of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, a bipartisan group of House Members who meet each week to seek God’s wisdom and guidance as we try to make wise decisions for the American people.  I believe the U.S. Constitution, as drafted by our Founding Fathers, was never intended to provide freedom from religion, but is intended to provide freedom of religion. I will address attacks on our nation’s religious heritage and to protect our inalienable rights to practice our religious freedom.

School districts in California, Oregon, New Jersey, and New York are now partnering with Planned Parenthood, the country’s largest abortion provider, to provide health services to students. Some of these schools are located only a few blocks from full Planned Parenthood centers.

Our school health centers should be a place of healing and education for students. They shouldn’t be used as a tool to advocate for abortion, and certainly not with federal taxpayer dollars.

International Outlook
This past week, we’ve all seen the international unrest in the news.  Violence between Israel and Hamas is flaring up in Gaza, and questions about the Malaysian Airlines flight shot down in Ukraine remain unanswered.  I want you to know I’m following these events, and I welcome your input on how the U.S. should move forward.

This Just In—President Once Again Unilaterally Altering Obamacare

This afternoon, the Obama Administration announced yet another delay of an Obamacare provision.  These selective delays emphasize what Americans already know—this law is hurting families, it’s hurting businesses, and it’s hurting economic growth.  Instead of piecemeal delays that are timed around elections, let’s give everyone a reprieve from this broken law.
