Senate EPW Committee Reports Out Four Nominees

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee today unanimously reported out of committee the following nominees: Vanessa Sutherland, nominee to be chairman and member of the Chemical Safety Board (CSB); Kristen M. Kulinowski, nominee to be a member of the Chemical Safety Board; Gregory G. Nadeau, nominee to be administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); and Eric Martin Satz, nominee to be a member of the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).

“Our committee unanimously voted to move forward four nominees for consideration in the full Senate,” Chairman Jim Inhofe said. "Both Chemical Safety Board nominees will hopefully improve the dynamics and accountability of the embattled CSB and get the board back on its mission of objectively investigating accidents instead of pursuing issue advocacy.  I look forward to seeing Greg Nadeau continue to lead the Federal Highway Administration in innovation and safety, and our committee looks forward to working closely with him to implement the six-year highway bill we are currently working to pass in the Senate.  Finally, our committee is finally pleased to report the nomination of Eric Martin Satz to provide valuable contributions to the board of directors for the Tennessee Valley Authority. All of these nominees have submitted the proper paperwork for consideration, and have answered all the questions posed by the members."

Vanessa Sutherland, nominee to be chairman and member of the Chemical Safety Board, was considered in a nomination hearing before the Senate EPW Committee on April 22.  Vanessa Sutherland is to replace former chairman Rafael Moure-Eraso, who was called to resign from his post by the president following multiple investigations by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Inspector General, congressional investigations, and followed by a March 12 letter from Inhofe and Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) requesting his resignation.

Kristen Kulinowski, nominee to be a member of the Chemical Safety Board, and Greg Nadeau, nominee to be administrator of the Federal Highway Administration, were considered in a nomination hearing before the Senate EPW Committee on July 15.
