I have been working all year to make sure that the fans in Los Angeles can watch their beloved Dodgers on TV. Now to hear that AT&T may have purposefully been prolonging this blackout is troubling to me and all the Dodger fans who were hoping for a resolution. I am glad that the Department of Justice is looking into these allegations and I am hopeful that by next season we can clear a path to getting the Dodgers back on television.

The U.S. Justice Department on Wednesday took the extraordinary step of suing AT&T, alleging that its DirecTV television unit orchestrated an illegal campaign to block wide carriage of the television channel owned by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

I appreciate that defense secretary Ash Carter has ordered the Pentagon to halt the clawback. It was the right call and brings long-overdue relief to these veterans and their families. But these veterans will remain vulnerable if Congress does not act. Congress must pass a fix that ensures these veterans will never have to make these payments and addresses the incredibly unfair situation faced by those who were already forced to make payments. Congresswoman Chu and I will be ready to work and find a solution when we return to Washington.

ALHAMBRA>> Local Congresswomen called for legislation Friday to permanently end the Pentagon’s efforts to seek repayment of bonuses given improperly to thousands of California National Guard members who re-enlisted during the Iraq War.

I am with my friend Congresswoman Judy Chu today at the American Legion Hall. The Pentagon has halted clawback efforts to get reenlistment bonuses back from California National Guard veterans. But that is not a permanent fix. When my colleagues and I go back to Washington we need to pass legislation to ensure this burden is permanently lifted and that we repay the veterans who were already forced to make payments.
