House Jobs Legislation Tracker
The House growth agenda tears down barriers to job creation because jobs are priority #1. We’ll never balance the budget without spending cuts and real economic growth. We are working to:
- Cut job-killing red tape that costs small businesses $10,585 per employee each year (See the Top 10 Job Killing Regulations)Reduce gas prices and create jobs by producing more American energy (every penny increase per gallon of gas costs consumers $4 million per day),
- Simplify a job-killing tax code that cost Americans $160 billion in 2009 to comply,
- Prevent job-killing tax hikes on small businesses,
- Reduce uncertainty by tackling the debt crisis with responsible spending cuts
Rigell Job Initiatives
We must continue to work each and every day to find other ways to improve the job environment, and I remind myself that although I am only one of 435 Members of Congress, I am one of those Members, and I can and will make an impact. In fact, the House just passed an amendment I introduced on the Consumer Financial Protection Safety and Soundness Improvement Act of 2011 which will to reduce regulations and open access to credit. I’ve introduced legislation that would bring 300 jobs to the Wallops Island Business Park. I’m also the co-sponsor of legislation to end the tax that penalizes shippers for moving cargo via our waterways.
