Toledo

Toledo borders the northwest corner of Ohio and is best known as the glass city for its long history of leading the glass industry in the manufacturing of windows, bottles, construction materials, and glass art.  The strategic location of Toledo contributed to its rapid growth in the 19th century and the city has emerged as a business center for commercial shipping, manufacturing, banking, medicine, and technology.

Downtown Toledo has become a focal point for residents as it has been revitalized in recent years with the opening of the renovated Downtown Toledo Library, Fifth Third Field, Huntington Center, and redevelopment plans for the riverfront's dining and entertainment scene. Visitors can experience visual and performing arts at the Toledo Museum of Art, which features the Peristyle Concert Hall and the Glass Pavilion, displaying a world-renowned glass collection of more than 5,000 works of art from ancient to contemporary times.  Toledo Symphony and the Toledo Opera perform at the Valentine Theater downtown and at venues throughout the city.

The Toledo Zoo is a popular attraction for visitors and was the first zoo to feature a Hippoquarium style exhibit. For a quick escape, visitors can take a canal ride on the Erie Canal or Island Hop on Lake Erie from Kelleys Island to Sandusky. While on the islands, there is the thrilling Cedar Point amusement park, rated 1stin the nation.
