May 6, 2015
Press Release

Washington, DC – Today Rep. Richmond (LA-02) issued the following statement regarding the confirmation of U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch as the 83rd Attorney General of the United States:

“I wish to congratulate U.S. Attorney Lynch on today’s historic vote.  Her confirmation as the first African American female Attorney General is long overdue, but well-deserved.  Her intellect, tenacity, and work ethic brought her to this point, and I am certain it will bring her many successes as Attorney General.  I look forward to working with her to advance the cause of justice in communities throughout the country, safeguard the right to vote, stymie the incarceration epidemic, and establish a greater level of confidence in our criminal justice system for all Americans

“I salute Attorney General Eric Holder for his stellar service over the past 6 years.  During his tenure, he addressed many injustices and laid the foundation for building a better and more equal standard of justice in this country”
