(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Congressman Alan Grayson (FL-09) today demanded answers from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs regarding the ongoing conflict over the completion of the new Orlando VA Medical Center. A completion date of July 2013 was set for the project, but a series of disputes between the main contractor and Department of Veterans Affairs has many wondering whether that date is at all realistic.

Grayson and other Members of the Central Florida delegation want to know when the project will be completed and how the potential termination of the project’s main contractor would affect costs and completion dates.

“The completion of this important project has been repeatedly delayed, and that is simply not acceptable,” said Grayson. “We need answers, and we need a plan to move this project forward. Our veterans are counting on a completed facility that will provide the services that they deserve. We cannot afford for this promise to become a dream perpetually deferred. The time to act is now.”

Congressman Alan Grayson represents Florida’s 9th Congressional District, which includes Osceola County, as well as parts of Orange and Polk counties. He previously served as the U.S. Representative for Florida's 8th Congressional District in the 111th Congress.
