Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) today made the following statement regarding the Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner's announcement of higher premiums for Obamacare plans in 2017.

"Today's announcement of skyrocketing health insurance premium increases shows that Obamacare's broken promises are hurting Pennsylvanians. Supporters of the health care law said it would lower insurance premiums by $2,500, but premiums for Obamacare plans continue to go up. Faced with double-digit rate hikes next year, many Pennsylvanians will have to dig deeper into their wallets to pay for overpriced coverage that they are being forced to buy.

Obamacare's big government approach to health insurance is resulting in higher premiums and deductibles, fewer choices in plans and doctors, and less hiring and economic growth. Pennsylvanians deserve a health care system that empowers families and individuals to access the care they need, at a price they can afford, from a doctor they choose."
