WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) issued the following statement regarding the passing of former Lieutenant Governor of Alabama, Lucy Baxley:

"I am saddened to hear about the passing of Lucy Baxley.  Lucy was very down-to-earth and people loved her.  She empathized with the everyday man and woman.  People believed she genuinely cared about the issues facing them, and the truth is that she did.  My thoughts and prayers are with the Baxley family."
