I support ending the war in Afghanistan and bringing our troops home as soon and as safely possible. The goals of expelling al-Qaeda and overthrowing the Taliban were accomplished years ago. It took approximately one thousand Special Forces troops to overthrow the Taliban in 2001. Why do we need a hundred times that number now to keep them out?
In 2010, I introduced The War is Making You Poor Act, which aimed to cut separate funding for the Iraq War and Afghanistan War, and use the proceeds to eliminate federal income taxes on every American's first $35,000 of income.
Instead of spending billions on the other side of the world, we can invest that money here to rebuild America. We simply can no longer afford these wars.
