Boustany Issues Statement on Rising Healthcare Costs in Louisiana

(Lafayette, LA) – Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Lafayette) issued the following statement after receiving notification that Louisiana residents will experience a 20 percent increase in healthcare premiums under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Boustany said: “The Obama Administration has been anything but a friend to Louisiana. They have attacked our oil and gas industry, created more hoops for our farmers to jump through, and now their landmark healthcare law is making healthcare unaffordable. We must put in place market-based and patient-centered solutions. The only way to ensure America can maintain the highest quality healthcare services, delivered at the lowest possible price, is by returning healthcare decisions back into the hands of individuals and their doctors, period.”

On November 1st the Louisiana Department of Insurance notified the public that Louisiana will see an increase of approximately 20 percent on health insurance premiums and according to recent reports, the majority of  parishes in Louisiana will have only two health insurers participating in the healthcare market place.
