TSA

While we are certainly safer than we were prior to 9/11, aviation remains a high-risk terrorist target.  Airlines employ hundreds of thousands of hard-working Americans and transport millions of passengers each year.  Therefore, the security of our nation’s airports and aviation system is a top priority for me.  I continue to monitor the activities of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), a bloated bureaucracy of more than 66,000 employees that is in much need of immediate revamping.

While many of the TSA employees are dedicated and hard working individuals, my major concern is the significant growth in TSA administrative bureaucracy.  Currently there are more than 15,000 administrators in the program and in Washington, D.C. more than 3,200 administrative and management positions averaging more than $105,000 a year.
