Hudson’s Bipartisan Jobs Bill Passes Senate
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), member of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power, released the following statement after a bill he co-authored to improve energy and manufacturing job-training programs passed the Senate with bipartisan support as part of S. 2012, the Energy Policy Modernization Act:
 
“Like most North Carolinians, my priorities are jobs, the economy, and making sure we have access to reliable and affordable energy. That’s why I’m pleased to see the Senate supported my bipartisan bill to close the skills gap by strengthening job-training programs and empowering workers to get and keep 21st century energy and manufacturing jobs. We have incredible potential for growth in the energy sector, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get this legislation across the finish line and help unemployed North Carolinians get back to work.”
 
Rep. Hudson’s bill, H.R. 4583 passed the House in February as a standalone provision and was included in S. 2012. In December, the House passed its own comprehensive energy legislation, the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act (H.R. 8), which seeks to equip our energy laws for the 21st century, maximize America’s energy potential and modernize our outdated energy policies rooted in the 1970s scarcity mindset. The House and Senate will now go to conference with S. 2012 and H.R. 8.
