Hudson Votes to Hold the IRS Accountable
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) issued the following statement after the House passed legislation to increase accountability at the IRS:
 
“Several days ago, millions of North Carolinians sent their personal financial information to the IRS - an unaccountable, bureaucratic agency that continues to fail hardworking taxpayers. This agency has a troubled track record of misconduct and incompetence, which is why my colleagues and I have already enacted measures to stop IRS abuse like political targeting and shield taxpayers from tax hikes. This week, I voted for several common sense bills to hold the IRS accountable, including legislation to ensure IRS employees actually pay their taxes and to block the agency from rehiring employees who were already fired for misconduct. While these reforms will make a difference, there’s still a lot to do, and I will continue to work so that we have an IRS – and a tax code – that works for taxpayers.”
 
This week, the House passed:
  • H.R. 4885– IRS Oversight While Eliminating Spending (OWES) Act
  • H.R. 1206– No Hires for the Delinquent IRS Act
  • H.R. 3724– Ensuring Integrity in the IRS Workforce Act
  • H.R. 4890– To impose a ban on the payment of bonuses to employees of the Internal Revenue Service until the Secretary of the Treasury develops and implements a comprehensive customer service strategy
