Hudson Votes to Combat Terrorist Travel
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), co-author of bipartisan legislation to strengthen the vetting of Syrian and Iraqi refugees, released the following statement after the House passed a series of bills aimed to combat terrorist travel:
“Americans are anxious about our national security – and rightfully so. Thousands of radicalized people with Western passports have traveled to Iraq and Syria to fight with terrorist groups like ISIS, but the administration has not developed a clear strategy to combat this threat. Today’s legislation requires the administration to develop actionable plans that close security gaps foreign fighters could exploit and combat terrorist travel. It’s another critical step to tackle the growing threat of radical Islamic extremism and help keep the American people safe.”
Today, the House passed the Foreign Fighter Review Act of 2016 (H.R 4402) and the National Strategy to Combat Terrorist Travel Act of 2016 (H.R. 4408).
