Hudson Votes to Ban Late-Term Abortions
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement after voting to ban late-term abortions:
“As America works to end global violence and promote peace, it’s immoral that our country allows the brutality of late-term abortion. Life begins at conception, and I will continue to fight to defend life and end the cruel practice of abortion.”
The United States is one of only seven countries that allow elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The Pain-Capable Unborn Protection Act (H.R. 36) prohibits the abortion of unborn children at 20 or more weeks. In addition, it provides protections for infants born alive and empowers women with a civil right of action if a health care provider fails to comply with the law.
Today’s vote coincides with the two-year anniversary since former abortion physician Kermit Gosnell was convicted for killing at least three live-born babies and conducting brutal illegal late-term abortions.
