Hudson Statement on House GOP’s Obamacare Replacement Plan
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement after House Republicans put forward a plan to repeal and replace Obamacare with patient-centered, affordable health care:
 
“Since Obamacare was signed into law, our concerns have been confirmed – this health care takeover is a disaster. It has increased health care costs, restricted access to quality care and put bureaucrats between us and our doctors. North Carolinians deserve better, and this is our plan to deliver it by repealing and replacing Obamacare with patient-centered reforms that expand access to quality health care and actually lower costs.”
 
This is the fifth platform of their bold policy agenda to tackle some of our country’s biggest challenges.
 
Congress has passed legislation to chip away at the law and get rid of some of its worst features. Among other provisions, Congress has passed and the president has signed into law legislation that repeals the auto-enrollment provision which was based on Rep. Hudson’s bill, H.R. 1254, from 2013. Additionally, the president has signed legislation that bans taxpayer bailouts of Obamacare co-ops, delays the Cadillac Tax and the Medical Device Tax, and exempts small businesses from Obamacare mandates that make it harder to hire veterans.  In fact, the president has now signed at least 10 House bills that dismantle, defund and repeal parts of his health care law.
