Hudson Recognized as Good Steward of Tax Dollars

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Yesterday, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) was awarded the “Guardian of Seniors' Rights Award” by the 60 Plus Association and the “Tax Fighter Award” by the National Tax Limitation Committee (NTLC).

“I’m honored to be recognized for my work to protect Social Security and Medicare and reduce taxes for all Americans,” said Rep. Hudson.“From working to save our vital safety net programs to cutting Washington’s wasteful spending, I’ll continue to fight to keep our promises to today’s seniors and future generations.”

In an award ceremony at the U.S. Capitol, 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin said, “We seniors felt we should show our gratitude to dedicated lawmakers like Congressman Hudson who show compassion towards the elderly by pledging to 1. Always protect Medicare, 2. Always protect Social Security, and 3. Just as importantly, to vote against wasteful spending of our tax dollars, excessive spending that has our government now borrowing over 40 cents of every dollar it needs to pay its bills. On behalf of 7.2 million seniors that 60 Plus looks to for support, seniors know you’re in our corner. You have earned our respect and our appreciation.”

NTLC President Lewis K. Uhler presented the award to Rep. Hudson in Washington, saying “Rep. Hudson’s votes on tax and spending issues in the 114th Congress earned him an ‘A’ grade and the Tax Fighter Award. Rep. Hudson has been a leader in the battle on behalf of taxpayers to kill the hated death tax, reduce tax rates and the complexity of the tax code, to provide incentives for private savings, investment and job creation, to control the growth of federal spending and to force Congress to act on major, economic growth-inducing tax reform. Rep. Hudson has been a major asset to taxpayers all across America during his Congressional service. He has had the courage to challenge the orthodoxy of Washington special interests. His leadership is vital to America’s future.”
