Hudson Presses EPA on Racing Regulation
 
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), representative of Charlotte Motor Speedway and Rockingham Dragway and co-author of legislation to combat EPA overreach into motorsports, sent a letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy demanding answers on the EPA’s proposed racing regulation. As a Member of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power, Rep. Hudson was joined in the letter by Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (MI-06) and Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (KY-01). To read the letter, click here.
 
“The EPA’s proposed racing regulation threatens the way of life for a lot of Americans who enjoy modifying cars for competition and a billion-dollar industry of aftermarket folks who make the parts,” said Rep. Hudson.“When I questioned the Administrator about this ridiculous government overreach, she assured me that wasn’t the EPA’s intent. Today I’m following through to guarantee that the intent Administrator McCarthy expressed is reflected and to protect North Carolina jobs and the future of racing.”
 
Background
In March, members of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power and the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy held a joint hearing to examine EPA’s 2017 budget with Administrator McCarthy as the sole witness.
