Hudson: President’s Amnesty Fails to Protect Public Safety
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) responded to the admission by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that it failed to deport a known gang member who is now charged with murder in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“The administration’s failure to deport an illegal immigrant with known gang ties under the president’s deferred action program is a dangerous consequence of bad policy and bloated bureaucracy. Clearly, the president’s actions to unilaterally rewrite our immigration laws are not adequately keeping known criminals out of our country and failing to protect the safety of North Carolinians.”
In a letter to Senator Chuck Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, USCIS stated that Emmanuel Jesus Rangel-Hernandez’s request for deferred deportation under President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive order “should not have been approved” based on procedures and protocols.
