WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) released the following statement after meeting with Fort Bragg officials:

“As always, I was thrilled to spend time at Fort Bragg today. I had the opportunity to speak with GEN Robert B. Abrams of Army Forces Command, Garrison Commander COL Brett T. Funck and U.S. Army Special Operations Command LTG Kenneth E. Tovo. As the representative of Fort Bragg, I always want to know what I can do personally to help the Fort Bragg community continue to thrive.

“It’s important that I hear firsthand from these leaders as to what we can do better in Washington to support our servicemen and women and how I can best assist them. A reoccurring theme in each of these meetings today was how integral Fort Bragg is within the Fayetteville community and to our state as a whole.

“During today’s discussions, it was clear that funding remains on the minds of our leaders, and we must continue working to ensure that our men and women receive top-tier training and equipment in order to complete their missions.

“Without question, this base has outstanding leadership and my meetings today reaffirm that Fort Bragg is the center of the universe for the United States Army. I look forward to taking this information back to D.C. so I can educate my colleagues on the essential role that Fort Bragg plays in defending our nation.”
