Reid: Nevada Awarded $15.5 Million To Fight Homelessness

Las Vegas, NV – Nevada Senator Harry Reid applauded the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for awarding Nevada $3,642,142 in Continuum of Care (CoC) grants to fight homelessness. The grants follow a first round of HUD funding in March, resulting in a total of $15.5 million in CoC grants to end homelessness in Nevada communities.

“Far too many people in Nevada and throughout the country struggle with homelessness. We must do everything in our power to provide them with the help they need. These grants are essential to making a real difference in people’s lives, and they will have a significant impact in the Silver State,” Reid said. “The organizations supported by these grants do incredible work and provide individuals and families with the assistance they need to get back on their feet. I thank HUD for its support and look forward to continuing our work together on this vital issue.”

The Nevada grants are part of $355 million in HUD funding awarded to more than 1,200 local homeless housing and service programs across the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. These CoC grants build upon the $1.6 billion in funding HUD awarded through a first round of funding in March – during which Nevada received $11,912,368.
