Thank you for your interest in attending one of the United States military service academies. There are few more noble or important commitments than attending one of the service academies. Acceptance to such an institute will provide you with a world-class education and provide our nation with another brave officer who is dedicated to preserving and defending our freedom.
You will need to submit the following to apply:
- An application, which requires a photo and an essay as to why you want to attend the academy of your choice and serve in the United States Armed Forces, which should be no more than two pages long.
- Three letters of recommendation are also required, one of which should be from someone with a knowledge of your academic work. Please note, all letters of recommendation should be from those that know you personally, as these letters are given great consideration by my Military Service Academy Committee.
- Three recommendation forms, which can be used for a recommendation or as a guide for a letter of recommendation on letterhead, are enclosed. Please return this completed application to my Utica District Office, 258 Genesee Street, First Floor, Utica, New York, 13502.

Please note that Representative Hanna does not nominate students to multiple academies; only one nomination to the student’s first choice is provided.
Lastly, your guidance counselor will need to submit a copy of your high school transcript to my office. Your transcript must include your three year average, rank in class, and the results of your SAT and/or ACT test scores. You can send this information separate from your application package if it is more convenient.
ALL INFORMATION (APPLICATIONS, TRANSCRIPT, ETC.) MUST BE IN REPRESENTATIVE HANNA'S OFFICE BY WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2015 - NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.
After your application is received, it will be reviewed by Representative Hanna’s Military Service Academy Committee, which is composed of veterans, educators and other community leaders in the 22nd Congressional District. The Committee will schedule a personal interview with all applicants several weeks after the deadline. You will be notified of the date, time and location of your interview by Representative Hanna’s office.
