Hanna Honored as ‘Guardian of Small Business’

NFIB recognizes Hanna for his commitment to free enterprise

WASHINGTONU.S. Representative Richard Hanna was presented with the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) Guardian of Small Business Award.

Rep. Hanna accepted the award at the U.S. Capitol from NFIB President and CEO Juanita Duggan. Rep. Hanna received a score of 93 percent for the votes he cast during the 114th Congress based on NFIB’s key votes scorecard, demonstrating a commitment to protecting free enterprise.

Rep. Hanna serves as Chairman of the Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Workforce. He has earned this award every Congress since he was first took office in 2011 for his ongoing support of policies that benefit America’s small businesses and help grow the economy.

“As a longtime businessman in upstate New York, I’m focused on taking steps to ease the burden on our small businesses so they can do what they do best – compete and create jobs in our community,” Rep. Hanna said. “Small businesses are what our local economy is based on and they keep our neighbors working. It’s easy to support policies that let small businesses thrive.”

“Many elected officials claim that they are champions of small business, but our Guardian Award shows our members and other small business owners who is really fighting for them,” NFIB President and CEO Duggan said. “Based on his voting record, Rep. Hanna is one of the most reliable advocates for small business in Washington. NFIB is honored to present Rep. Hanna with this award.”

The Guardian of Small Business is NFIB’s most prestigious award. It is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with NFIB on the key issues identified by small business owners. NFIB tracks the votes of every member of Congress. House members and Senators who vote with NFIB members at least 70 percent of the time are eligible for the Guardian Award.
