Lali’s Law is named in memory of Alex Laliberte, a former Buffalo Grove resident and Stevenson High School graduate who sadly passed away from a drug overdose. The bipartisan bill will increase access to a life-saving overdose reversal antitode called naloxone. Today across the United States there is $1.3 trillion in student loan debt between 40 million Americans. As the son of a schoolteacher, I’ve always believed that a quality education should be within reach for everybody, regardless of zip code or income. The best way out of poverty is a job. Nearly 2 million families receive TANF assistance and are struggling to get by. H.R. 2990, the Accelerating Individuals Into The Workforce Act, would help these people find jobs and gain valuable work skills so they no longer need to rely on federal assistance, while also allowing businesses to hire more employees. The Fuel Choice for American Prosperity and Security Act is a bipartisan bill to provide consumers with choices at the pump and reduce our dependence on oil. This will create a competitive market for different transportation fuels, forcing traditional gasoline to compete with cleaner energy alternatives. By incentivizing automakers to make cars that can operate on fuels other than gasoline, we give consumers more choices at the pump and reduce our transportation footprint. The Mechanical Insulation Installation Incentive Act of 2015 is a bipartisan bill to create jobs and promote energy efficiency. In 1915, the government of the Ottoman Empire launched the first genocide of the 20th century – the Armenian Genocide, but despite overwhelming historical evidence, the Ottoman Empire’s successor – Turkey – has maintained a decades-long policy of refusing to accept responsibility. H. Res. 154 calls on the President of the United States to work toward the Republic of Turkey’s full acknowledgement of the facts and consequences of the Armenian Genocide.
