Visit Rochester

There are few places in the United States where you can visit a premiere art gallery in the morning, cruise along a beautiful waterway in the afternoon, and catch a baseball game over some locally-brewed beer in the evening. These activities are a small fraction of the many attractions found in Rochester. If you are coming to Rochester for business or pleasure, Congresswoman Slaughter hopes that you can take some time to enjoy what Rochester has to offer.

The Memorial Art Gallery

  • Founded in 1913, the Memorial Art Gallery is a premiere destination for any visitor with an interest in the arts. With a collection of more than 12,000 pieces, visitors are offered a rare journey through 5,000 years of art history from historical artifacts to groundbreaking artists of today. The George Eastman House

  • The George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film is the perfect destination for anyone with an interest in art or architecture. The former house of Kodak’s founder is now the world’s oldest photography museum and boasts a comprehensive research library. The Eastman House incorporates George Eastman’s mansion, beautifully restored gardens, and numerous other additions such as a lecture hall, multimedia theater, and the Dryden Theatre, a 535-seat motion picture venue, which specializes in restored film classics. High Falls

  • The beautiful High Falls lie in the center of Rochester and were critical to Rochester’s early industrial development. This is a must-see location for anyone who wants to understand Rochester’s history and see a beautiful work of nature. The High Falls Center also doubles as Rochester’s official visitor center and is a New York State Heritage Area. Guided and self-guided tours of the 96-foot waterfall are available. ArtWalk

  • Located in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts, ArtWalk is an urban art trail and interactive outdoor museum, immersing people in a world of public art like they’ve never seen. Rochester Americans

  • The Rochester Americans, also known as the Amerks, are the city’s professional ice hockey team. Attending games offers sports enthusiasts the chance to witness major-league entertainment in downtown Rochester. The Amerks compete in American Hockey League and are affiliated with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres. Founded in 1956, the Amerks play their home games from October to April at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial in Rochester. Rochester Red Wings

  • Rochester Redwings Stadium The Rochester Red Wings are the city’s Triple-A baseball team, the top minor league affiliate of the MLB’s Minnesota Twins. If you’re in Rochester for the summer, it’s worth an afternoon to see the Red Wings play at Frontier Field. National Museum of PLAY

  • The National Museum of PLAY is the world’s only museum devoted to play. This museum is perfect for children and the young at heart alike. The only one in the world of its kind, it features tens of thousands of artifacts and objects related to play, interactive and hands-on exhibits, educational programs, the National Toy Hall of Fame, a mini-Wegmans, a passenger train and carousel, and even an indoor butterfly garden. Ontario Beach Park

  • Ontario Beach Park, located on the shore of Lake Ontario, spans 39 acres and includes seven shelters that are available to rent for social gatherings, parties, and other events. Visitors of all ages will find something fun to do at the beach. It is also home to the Historic Dentzel Carousel installed in 1905. The park also accommodates baseball/softball, beach volleyball, boating, fishing, soccer, and swimming.
