Service Academy Nominations

Georgia has a proud history of military service to this country. Considering young leaders for nomination to a United States Service Academy is one of my most important responsibilities. With the assistance of my Military Academy Selection Board, I am honored to designate potential nominees using a competitive selection process for each of the academies.

Application Process

You are encouraged to visit the web sites for each academy to determine their minimum entrance requirements. Please note that in addition to applying to my office for nomination, applicants must also apply directly to their respective academy in order to receive an appointment. 

All service academies, other than the United States Coast Guard Academy, require a nomination from a qualified nominating source in addition to meeting the individual eligibility and entrance requirements for each respective academy. A Congressional nomination is not needed for the United States Coast Guard Academy. Please contact the academy directly at 1-800-883-8724 for more information.

Eligibility

Candidates seeking nomination and appointment to a service academy must:

  • Be at least 17 years of age and not older than 23 years of age on 1 July of the calendar year of entrance.

  • Be a United States citizen.

  • Be unmarried and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.

  • Female applicants cannot be expecting a child.

Complete Academy Application

All forms must be completed and received by Monday, October 17, 2016.

You may wish to verify delivery of your academy application package through your selected mail carrier via tracking number. Please ensure that you retain this important piece of information as no applications that are delivered after the deadline will be considered.

Deadline

All applications for a nomination through my office are due by 5:00 PM on Monday, October 17, 2016. Please understand that no applications received after the deadline will be considered and no exceptions can be made. 

SAT and ACT scores will not be accepted after the deadline of October 17, 2016.

Nomination Review Process

The 2016 Service Academy Selection Board will review all completed applications for nomination received by October 17, 2016. The most competitive candidates will be scheduled for interviews with the Service Academy Selection Board on November 19, 2016. 

Remember, you may apply for nomination to more than one service academy. You only need to submit one application package to my office and indicate in the appropriate section all service academies for which you are applying.
