Carter Announces Grant for Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery

(ROUND ROCK, TEXAS)– Today, Rep. John R. Carter announced that the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery is being awarded a federal grant for expansion expenses. The $799,649 is being awarded to fund the construction of a memorial walk, 50 memorial wall markers, landscaping, scattering garden, and supporting infrastructure. The project will develop approximately one acre and serve roughly 222,000 Veterans and eligible family members.

“I am so proud to support this federal grant for our Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery,” said Carter. “Our Veterans, and their families, deserve an eternal resting place in Central Texas that is befitting their great service to our nation, and this grant will help fulfill this goal.”

The State of Texas submitted the formal application, and the project is through the Texas General Land Office.

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the House Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
