Internships

Chairman

The office of the Finance Committee Chairman accepts a limited number of internship and clerkship applicants each year. Successful internship applicants serve during spring, summer and fall segments. Law school students serve as law clerks during the same periods.

A limited number of interns and law clerks are selected for each term. Applicants should apply early. Applicants should send a cover letter, resume, brief writing sample, academic transcript, and two letters of reference to the following email address: republican_internship@finance.senate.gov

The office of the Finance Committee Ranking Member, Senator Wyden, accepts a limited number of intern and law clerk applicants each year. Successful intern and law clerk applicants serve during spring (January-May), summer (May/June-August) and fall (September-December). These positions are unpaid.

The Committee seeks individuals with specific interests in health care, international trade, Social Security, human services, tax issues, Oversight and Investigations and the press. Interns and law clerks routinely assist with legislative research projects, hearings, and other substantive assignments and administrative tasks. Though no specific major or program is required, a good academic record is a must. Applicants who can work full-time (40 hours/5 days per week) are preferred, though part-time candidates are also considered.

A limited number of interns and law clerks are selected for each term on a rolling basis; applicants should apply early (3-4 months before the start date is preferable). Given that Senator Wyden is from Oregon, current and former Oregon residents are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants should e-mail a cover letter, resume, 1-2 page writing sample, and two references to the following address: Democratic_Internships@finance.senate.gov. In the cover letter, please indicate your area of interest given the Finance Committee’s broad jurisdiction. Should additional questions arise, please contact the Committee at (202) 224-4515. This office is an equal opportunity employer.
