NEW CASTLE, Del. — This afternoon, Congressman John Carney (D-DE) hosted his third Veterans Office Hours session of the month. The event, held at the National Guard Joint Force Headquarters, gave veterans the opportunity to speak directly with Congressman Carney, representatives from the Wilmington VA Medical Center and Veterans Benefits Administration, and the many other organizations present. Over the last month, Congressman Carney has held three Veterans Office Hours sessions throughout the state of Delaware, providing dozens of veterans direct access to the services they need and benefits they’ve earned.
“These sessions have been a great opportunity for veterans throughout the state to voice their concerns and receive assistance. We’ve been able to connect folks directly with those who can best help them and get them the answers they needed,” said Congressman Carney. “These Office Hours have also given me the chance to hear from veterans on the big-picture issues we m
ust continue to address. I appreciate the efforts of the many organizations that joined us in making these Office Hours a success and would especially like to thank the National Guard for hosting us today.”
"Our delegation’s commitment to serving veterans is clear,” said Adjutant General Frank Vavala of the Delaware National Guard. “The Veterans Office Hours have helped veterans across the state, and I’m glad that the National Guard Joint Force Headquarters was able to host one of these sessions. We look forward to continuing this work to ensure all of Delaware’s veterans receive the services they need."
Participants in today’s event included representatives from the: Wilmington VA Medical Center, Veterans Benefits Administration, Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs, Social Security Administration, University of Delaware, Disabled American Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America, Delaware Department of Labor, Delaware Division of Services for the Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities, Delaware Division of Social Services, Delaware State University, Delaware Technical & Community College, Food Bank of Delaware, $tand By Me, Wesley College, and Wilmington University.
