WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative John Carney (D-DE) released the following statement in response to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of the Inspector General (OIG)’s release of the Wilmington VA Medical Center (VAMC) Wait Time Investigation. Last week, Congressman Carney was quoted in a USA Today article detailing the back-log of the release of at least 73 reports regarding wait times at VA facilities across the country.

“It’s about time,” said Congressman Carney. “We have repeatedly asked that this report be made public. Without this investigation, we haven’t known the full extent of the problem, and more importantly, what is being done to fix it. While I am concerned that the VA OIG decided not to release the report in its entirety, I plan to thoroughly review the released information. I look forward to discussing its findings with the Wilmington VAMC leadership, and will pursue further information if necessary. I have no plans to take the pressure off until we are assured our veterans are receiving the care they deserve.”
