WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative John Carney (D-DE) released the following statement in response to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of the Inspector General (OIG)’s announcement that they will begin releasing their Wait Time Investigation Reports. Last week, Congressman Carney was quoted in a USA Today article detailing the back-log of the release of at least 73 reports regarding wait times at VA facilities across the country.

“The VA Inspector General’s announcement today is long overdue. These reports are critical to understanding the full extent of the problems at these facilities, and more importantly, what is being done to fix them.  We can’t wait any longer to ensure veterans get the care they deserve, and I urge the VA to continue to release all of their investigations, including Wilmington’s, as soon as possible. It’s the only way veterans and members of the public can feel confident in the VA’s ability to adequately meet our obligation to those who have served our country.”
