CHESWOLD, Del. — Yesterday afternoon, Congressman John Carney (D-DE) visited the Delaware Air Park to congratulate Moriah Graham on becoming Delaware’s first African-American student to earn her private pilot’s license. Ms. Graham recently graduated from the flight program at POLYTECH High School. While in school, Moriah was a member of the JROTC where she trained at Dover Air Force Base under retired Air Force Lt. Col. Ray Ott, POLYTECH’s senior aerospace science instructor.
Congressman Carney has known Moriah and her mother, Rochelle Kilby, for nearly a decade, since they met at an event sponsored by the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League.
“It was a pleasure to see Moriah and congratulate her on such a tremendous accomplishment,” said Congressman Carney. “She is a strong and determined young woman, and I look forward to seeing what more she accomplishes in her bright future. I wish her all the best as she continues her training in college, and begins what I’m sure will be a successful and fulfilling career.”
Moriah will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the fall.
