Rep. Alan Grayson on Friday accused Florida’s health care regulators of attacking women’s health care when they investigated 16 Planned Parenthood clinics at the behest of Gov. Rick Scott.

In a prepared statement distributed to the press, Grayson, a Democrat from Orlando who is running for Senate, said Planned Parenthood provides valuable health services to women throughout Florida. "If the attempt to destroy Planned Parenthood is successful, the inevitable result is that many women will suffer and die. Our mothers, sisters and daughters deserve high-quality, affordable medical care.”

Scott last month ordered the Agency for Health Care Administration to investigate 16 Planned Parenthood abortion clinics across the state after videos from the antiabortion group, The Center for Medical Progress, were widely distributed. The videos caused a poltical firestorm, putting the clinics under congressional scrutiny.
