Congressman Alan Grayson Awards Florida Technical College Students and Faculty

(Kissimmee, FL – December 10th, 2013) – Congressman Alan Grayson (Representative D-FL 9th District) visited Florida Technical College, Kissimmee Campus during Monday morning to present the Presidential Service Medal Awards, recognizing the effort that the faculty and students from FTC have made to the community.

The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation (the Council) was established in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve. The Council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.

During a 12-month period time FTC’s faculty and students helped the community with different activities, which include free health screenings, supported shelter homes with food, blankets and necessary items; achieving the required number of hours of service and earning the Presidential Service Medal.
